Sleep
Aradhana Nayak
The stars burned in the skies
Hidden were those silent cries
Eyes tried to stay awake that night
But alluring angel's voice was too bright
Bruises marked on that frail body
Heaven could only look at it guiltily
The skin burning with the pattern embossed
Blood painting it in hues of scarlet, as the soul blazed
Breath so weak that almost felt like whisper
The voice felt like it would disappear
Lips turning into shades of blue
There's nothing anyone could do
That night, it was cold and dark
A date, the mother would mark
For her daughter who was in eternal sleep
As her body is buried under the snow very deep
Hidden were those silent cries
Eyes tried to stay awake that night
But alluring angel's voice was too bright
Bruises marked on that frail body
Heaven could only look at it guiltily
The skin burning with the pattern embossed
Blood painting it in hues of scarlet, as the soul blazed
Breath so weak that almost felt like whisper
The voice felt like it would disappear
Lips turning into shades of blue
There's nothing anyone could do
That night, it was cold and dark
A date, the mother would mark
For her daughter who was in eternal sleep
As her body is buried under the snow very deep
